    Proposal Description

This proposed invited session at the 65th ISI World Statistics Congress 2025, organized under the auspices of the European federation FENStatS, aims to delve into the dynamic realm of partnerships between academia and official statistical agencies across Europe. With a focus on synergy exploration and challenges identification, the aim of the session is to illustrate the landscape of collaborative efforts through insightful case studies and discussions.

The session will feature presentations showcasing diverse experiences from Switzerland, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Romania, each highlighting some aspects of collaborative endeavors between academia and official statistical agencies. Topics include long-term collaborations between the Swiss Federal Statistical Office and the University of Neuchatel, effective liaisons to address small area estimation needs and non-sampling errors in Italy, innovative methodologies and collaboration frameworks in the United Kingdom, and insights from the Romanian experience focusing on the development of effective collaboration frameworks between academia and official statistics. Additionally, at the end of the session, we have scheduled a discussant to synthesize key ideas and stimulate deeper exploration of the topics presented.
