    Abstract

The session will gather experiences from the around the world in using innovation methods and sources to produce existing official statistics in a more efficient way or with higher quality, or to create statistical products previously not available. The focus of this session will be on applications for tourism statistics, showing innovative approaches to measuring visitor flows or monetary flows related to tourism, and how these can be integrated in a production system together with traditional or other innovative sources.

While the main angle will be tourism, the discussions to be held have a relevance for the wider statistical community because of shared concerns in exploring new methods and sources, such as matching of concepts/definitions, optimal design of decision making algorithms, institutional governance, data access, data sustainability, confidentiality, trust of users and producers.
