Chair: Elisabetta Carfagna, Chair of the ISI Special Interest Group on Data Science, University of Bologna, Italy
Fabrizio Ruggeri, CNR IMATI, Milano, Italy, President-Elect of the International Statistical Institute (2023-2025) “Is there a future for traditional stochastic modelling in business and industry in the AI era?”
Paulo Canas Rodrigues, Federal University of Bahia, Brazil, President of the ISBIS “Data Science and ISBIS”.
Dominik Rozkrut, President of Statistics Poland, President of the IAOS “Artificial intelligence, data science and official statistics”
Natalie Shlomo, President of the IASS, University of Manchester, UK, "Data science, artificial intelligence and survey statistics”
John Bailer, former President of the International Statistical Institute, member of the committee of the special interest group on data science, Miami University in Ohio, USA, “ISI-AI-DS: Considerations in Education, Continuing Education and Capacity Building”
This is a proposal for a panel discussion. The President-Elect of the ISI, the President of the ISBIS, the President of the IAOS, the President of the IASS and a former ISI president, member of the committee of the special interest group on data science, will discuss the impact of the fast evolution and expansion of artificial intelligence and data science on the International Statistical Institute (ISI) and its associations. At the same time, the role of the ISI in this framework will be figured out.
The future for traditional stochastic modelling, the role of artificial intelligence and data science for official statistics, survey sampling and education will be addressed. Moreover, the role of survey sampling, education, continuing education, and capacity building in the application and development of data science and artificial intelligence will be taken into consideration.
This panel discussion is proposed by the ISI Special Interest Group on Data Science.
