Abstract

The Central Bank of Brazil has been organizing two surveys for external positions, one for assets (Brazilian Capitals Abroad) and other for DI liabilities (Census on Foreign Capitals). These two surveys currently involve, respectively, 25.7 thousand reporting entities (of which 21.8 thousand households) and 19,7 thousand corporations. A key focus point has been to develop a strong interaction with survey participants to instruct them on the correct providing of data and how validate the data. These efforts have resulted through the years in the establishment of a close relationship between the central bank statisticians and the data providers, representing a key complement to the close involvement achieved of the users of this information.
