Abstract

Statistics Netherlands is using FOSS in production of official statistics for over 15 years now. In this talk we look back at the decisions to introduce R and Python as strategic tools and the continuing growth of their use in production environments. We will highlight the CBS strategic and policy context surrounding the using of, and contributing to FOSS products. We also focus on our international collaboration in this area, including the development of FOSS principles and the awesomelist of official statistics software.
