Abstract

The State Data Agency's (Statistics Lithuania) strategy is to expand and improve the quality of statistics, develop an analytical perspective, and ensure a symbiotic partnership. This includes developing more detailed and newer social and demographic statistics, making statistics more relevant and accessible, increasing the quality and consistency of statistics, standardizing and automating the process, etc.
The main areas we are working on:
• The improvement of cultural, gender, equality, and crime statistics begins with the need to ensure the enactment of legislation for statistical preparation.
• The transition in Education statistics from receiving aggregated administrative data to primary data is encouraged by the development of more detailed and timely statistics.
• The creation of the Statistical Households Register, based on the Statistical Population Register, has begun. Statistical Households Register will be used for the population sample frames, defining the household’s relations and for the Future Population and Household Census.
• Close collaboration with state institutions and the scientific community fosters new long-term panel surveys to gain a better understanding of our society.
• It is crucial to have national population projections to meet the needs of the users and to shape our future.
