Abstract

The 2024 Paris Olympics provided a plethora of data for sports analysts, particularly in fast-paced and complex sports like handball. This presentation will showcase the power of sports analytics in a global sporting event like the Olympics, specifically within the context of handball. Leveraging advanced explainable machine learning techniques, we will explore the results of pre-Olympic predictions and derive key learnings on teams performance. This will pave the way for developing more reliable sports models applicable not only to handball but also to other team sports.
