Abstract
Summary: In London, UK, we are fortunate to have an abundancy of data to inform evidence-based decision making. A key source of London’s data, statistics and analytical insights are the various bodies that make up the Greater London Authority (GLA) Group. This includes City Hall, Transport for London (TfL), Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) and other constituent organisations. These outputs provide a valuable public asset for London. The Mayor of London wants Londoners and other users of GLA Group statistics to be confident that they can be trusted. While the GLA Group are not legally obliged to comply with the Code of Practice for Statistics, in 2018, the Mayor adopted the Code of Practice for Statistics as part of his commitment to a transparent Mayoralty. In this part of the presentation, we will illustrate how we’ve been developing bespoke training materials to engage our staff involved with external communications to embrace the standards of Trustworthiness, Quality and Value. Just as delivering our “Every Journey Matters” promise to our customers is paramount at TfL, we are embarking on a journey to embrace and embed “Every Number Matters” in our communications.
