Abstract
The use of artificial intelligence and open data has been an alternative used by national statistical offices to complement and expand statistical production, without depending on new sources of funding. To support countries in Latin America and the Caribbean in using this approach to produce climate change indicators, the UN Regional Hub for Big Data, with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), launched, in 2024, a collaborative project involving 11 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The objective of the project is to develop and implement a common approach to produce climate change indicators in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay. The presentation will cover the state of the art of the project, progress and challenges.
