Abstract

In supporting the national development policies through the official statistics provision, BPS-Statistics Indonesia has the mandate to collect the data, including from the private sector, to process and share the trade data and information through electronic systems in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. This program supports the availability of data on economic growth in the digital economy, which is important for policy-making and has become one of the national priorities. However, the implementation of delivering data from data producers is still not fulfilling the expectation, which will have an impact on the quality of statistical data. There are several problems and challenges in data delivery, both technical and non-technical. This research aims to identify various factors that influence the availability of trade data through electronic systems provision in statistical production. This paper provides information regarding business processes, policies, roles, technology, and communication mechanisms for delivering trade data and information via electronic systems, as well as providing an explanation of various issues and challenges that occur during the processes. These various pieces of information are beneficial as a reference for similar projects in developing statistical data acquisition strategies, especially when they involve the private sector.
