Abstract
Machine learning has found increasing applications in official statistics. Response propensity models have been used to inform sampling and data collection. Some machine learning models provide insights for imputation. Other models provide the foundation for producing official statistics. In this presentation, the current role of machine learning in the production of official statistics, its potential for future uses, and the challenges associated with their use will be highlighted.
