Abstract

This Special Issue of the Statistics Education Research Journal (SERJ) with the title "Statistics Education Research in Africa" aims to highlight the specific characteristics of Statistics Education Research in Africa to the international community. In particular, the Special Issue seeks to showcase the diverse and innovative approaches to statistics education across the African continent, emphasizing the unique challenges and opportunities that African countries face. We have identified three key thematic areas for this Special Issue: (1) Capacity Building in Training Future Statisticians at the University Level, (2) Innovative Statistical Education Projects or Approaches Addressing Local or National 'Burning Issues,' and (3) Educational Efforts to Overcome or Connect with Systemic or Endemic Issues. In this talk, we will present the genesis of the Special Issue along with upcoming challenges and opportunities.
