Abstract
In recent years, the landscape of statistics and data science education in Africa has undergone significant transformation, characterized by a strong focus on capacity building, curriculum innovation, and the adoption of modern data science practices. This presentation delves into these developments, showcasing the progress made in improving educational programs, advancing research, and strengthening international collaborations across the continent. Special emphasis is placed on the pivotal role that the International Association for Statistical Education (IASE) can play in supporting these advancements. Through various initiatives, such as conferences, workshops, and collaborative projects, IASE has been instrumental in providing essential resources, fostering networking opportunities, and offering a global platform for African educators and researchers. This presentation will highlight successful case studies, address ongoing challenges, and outline future directions for amplifying the impact of statistics and data science education in Africa. By demonstrating the powerful synergy between local efforts and international support, this presentation aims to inspire ongoing innovation and collaboration, advocating for the establishment of a local IASE chapter in Africa to further contribute to the global progress of statistical and data science education.
