Abstract
The peninsula and islands of Murujuga in Western Australia contain over one million panels of indigenous rock art, in close proximity to an industrial area. Concern about potential damage to the rock art caused by industrial emissions has led to a research programme which is monitoring the condition of the rock art, studying the rock surfaces, and monitoring air quality across the peninsula. This talk will describe the essential role played by spatial statistical methods in designing the study and in identifying potential evidence of the effects of industrial emissions on the rock art.
