Abstract

Understanding the current and future landscape of application and development of multivariate analysis necessitates a systematic overview of the most frequently employed statistical methods across various research disciplines. By identifying the prevalence of these methods and their application in different research areas and time periods, there is significant potential to assess their practical value and utility in scientific research, as well as future directions of development. This paper will conduct a bibliometric analysis of scientific literature aiming to uncover associations, connections, patterns and trends in the research field of multivariate analysis and applied statistics. We will utilise the Web of Science database as the data source to compile an initial set of scientific literature using multiple keywords and precisely defined inclusion criteria. Following stringent research criteria, the dataset will be additionally refined to provide more precise insights into the diverse applications of multivariate statistics. Consequently, an overview of the most influential multivariate statistical methods will be established, serving as a foundation for future research into other statistical methods within broader or more specific domains. Additional bibliometric visualisations and analysis will also be conducted to provide a comprehensive snapshot of the development of the research field.
