Abstract
In the analysis of geo-referenced systems, planar coordinates (longitude-latitude) are usually used as a basis and, in general, a third dimension (altitude or depth) is considered as a covariate of the system. This paper focuses on the evaluation of the structural effects of including the third dimension in the seismic data domain, where one of the most recurrent approaches is the use of information-based measures. The loss or gain of structural complexity is evaluated through entropy measures.
