Abstract

The Abu Dhabi Reference Data (ADRD) is designed to standardize and provide a comprehensive set of reference classifications to be utilized for data collection and reporting across diverse entities. At its core, the Abu Dhabi Reference Data (ADRD) aims to uphold the integrity and precision of databases, thereby enabling robust data analysis and facilitating informed decision-making processes.

Since the start of the project in 2023, Statistics Center Abu Dhabi (SCAD) has collaborated closely with administrative entities to develop a comprehensive set of 126 reference classifications. These classifications are designed not only for statistical purposes but also for use by administrative entities during data collection exercises. The International Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA 2.0) was relied upon to determine the Abu Dhabi Reference Data (ADRD) domains which are as follows:

- The Real Estate domain encompasses five distinct statistical units—Geographic, Land, Building, Unit, and Utility Consumption—enabling precise categorization and comprehensive analysis of real estate-related data across Abu Dhabi.
- Similarly, the Establishment domain integrates four statistical units—Enterprise, Establishment, Investment, and Product—providing a standardized approach for entities to classify and report economic activities, thereby enhancing transparency and comparability in economic statistics.
- In the Population domain, which comprises seven statistical units—Person, Family, Household, Labor Force, Education, Health, and Other—the ADRD facilitates detailed demographic analysis essential for policymaking and social development initiatives.
- Environment domain

Statistics Center Abu Dhabi (SCAD) has developed a new classification called the "Occupation Classification," which encompasses a comprehensive range of occupations found in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. This classification integrates various existing frameworks such as the GCC classification, International Classification, Saudi Classification, and European Classification. Extensive research has been conducted across these classifications to ensure that all significant occupations within the emirate are included. Furthermore, detailed descriptions have been provided for each profession as part of this effort.
By establishing a unified reference framework in the Emirate, the ADRD ensures consistency and accuracy of data across various entities. This harmonization promotes seamless integration of data from different sources, facilitating comprehensive data analysis and enhancing the reliability of insights drawn from Abu Dhabi's statistical and administrative datasets. Through its leadership in the ADRD initiative, SCAD underscores its commitment to fostering standardized data practices and improving data quality across Abu Dhabi. By standardizing reference classifications across the emirate, SCAD facilitates greater interoperability among data systems, thereby supporting strategic initiatives aimed at economic growth, social development, and environmental sustainability.
This paper highlights the transformative impact of the ADRD in promoting data-driven decision-making and supporting strategic initiatives across Abu Dhabi.
