Abstract
This paper introduced an optimized class of dual to ratio-cum-product type estimators for the population mean of the study variable using available information based on the auxiliary variable. To construct the family of the estimators of the main variable, a suitable transformation on the study variable as well as auxiliary variable has been used. Under large sample approximation, the characteristics of the proposed class of estimators have been examined up to first order. It has been observed that several existing estimators are the particular members of the proposed family of estimators as well as several new estimators can also be generated from the suggested family of estimators by substituting the different values of the considered scalars. The efficiency of the proposed family of estimators has been compared theoretically with other competing estimators of the population mean. To show the performance of the proposed class of estimators, numerical illustration has also been given. The results represented that the suggested family of estimators has performed better than the competing estimators, therefore it may be used in different applications. The interesting part of this study is that it unifies several estimators along with their properties at one place. Therefore, it is deduced that the use of the proposed class of estimators is justified in practice.
