Abstract

Supporting users and providing various statistics has a long tradition at the Czech Statistical Office. Immediately after the Velvet Revolution in 1989, a unit was created that began to systematically deal with this activity. In 35 years, the channels and the form in which information is provided have changed, but the basic principle remains - the basic mission of the statistical office is to obtain and process data for statistical purposes and to provide statistical information to state authorities, local government authorities, the public and abroad (§ 4 of the Act No. 89/1995 Coll., on the State Statistical Service).
The presentation will include practical experience in the provision of statistical information, especially with regard to user groups, channels and forms of information provision (data, services, consultations). Special attention will be paid to the new website of the Czech Statistical Office, which was created with the needs of users in mind and which was launched in June 2024. The new DataStat output database and experience in providing access to microdata for scientific and research purposes will also be presented. Daily answering of questions from users and respondents also deserves attention.
