Abstract

ABSTRACT

Background: The number of persons with disabilities estimated at 1.3 billion, or about 16%, which is equivalent 1 per 6 people worldwide (WHO 2023). This number has grown over the past decade and is expected to continue to rise due to demographic and epidemiological changes (WHO 2022), as shown when compared with previous WHO estimates in the 1970s; It was about 10% according to the World Health Organization's World Report on Disability 2011 (WHO 2011). In the Arab region, the highest employment rates for males with disabilities in the 15-64 age group exceeded 10% in 10 countries in order (Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Mauritania, Palestine, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Oman), while the female employment rates exceeded 10% in only 3 countries (Bahrain, Yemen and Mauritania).

Aims: To measure the employment rate among persons with disabilities (15 years and older) of the large degree to absolute in Egypt.

Method: Analytical descriptive approach by using Published data for the General Census of Population, Housing and Establishments in Egypt 2017.

Expected results: Decrease the employment rate of persons with disabilities in urban and rural areas. The proportion of seasonal work of disabled males and females in rural areas is higher than urban. High proportion of persons with disabilities in certain occupations. High proportion of males with disabilities in some economic activities. High rate of employment in rural agriculture activity for both sexes. physical disability is more difficult for persons with disabilities, whether male or female, in urban or rural areas.
