Abstract
Road infrastructure is vital in enabling the efficient mobility of people, goods, and services, as well as ensuring accessibility to various areas, such as commercial and social activity areas. Aligned with this, advancements in road infrastructure are positively correlated with the economic growth of a region. Tourist villages are an important aspect of the tourism industry in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), well-known for its cultural diversity and magnificent natural landscapes. This aligns with DIY's status as a cultural center and a popular attraction on Java Island. The existence of tourist villages not only offers memorable experiences for tourists but also plays a crucial role in boosting the local economy and fostering community growth.
The tourism industry has a significant impact on other sectors, such as transportation and warehousing, as well as accommodation and food services, through a strong multiplier effect. There are five elements of tourism excellence, often abbreviated as the 5 A's: Accessibility, Accommodation, Attraction, Activity, and Amenities. To maximize the potential of tourist villages, a well-developed and integrated road network is crucial. The connectivity and accessibility of road infrastructure are essential in shaping the ease with which tourists can access and explore the diverse tourist destinations in DIY.
Utilizing geospatial big data sources from Open Street Map (OSM) and Peta Rupa Bumi Indonesia (RBI) can be a beneficial choice for assessing the connectivity and accessibility of road infrastructure, offering significant potential through comprehensive mapping with fast updates and wide data coverage.
It is expected that this study will have a significant influence on the development of tourism in DIY, particularly in enhancing tourist villages. This study aims to utilize information about the current road network to develop strategic initiatives that improve accessibility, connectivity, and the overall visitor experience in DIY's tourist villages. Furthermore, these findings are anticipated to assist the government and other related parties in developing measures that support the sustainable expansion of tourism in DIY.
