Abstract

This study investigates the numerous factors influencing student performance, utilizing a representative sample of 1,000 students drawn from a comprehensive dataset of 10,000 synthetic records. The research explores how variables such as study hours, previous academic scores, extracurricular activities, sleep duration, and practice with sample question papers impact academic outcomes. Employing both descriptive and regression analyses as well as statistical modeling within the R statistical environment, this paper aims to quantify and model the relationships between these variables and the students' Performance Index. The primary objectives are to identify key predictors of academic success and to understand the relative impact of lifestyle and educational habits on performance. Although the data is synthetic, the findings significantly contribute to the discourse on educational effectiveness, enhancing the understanding of the complex interplay of factors that affect academic achievement. For additional investigation, simulation data based on this dataset will be provided. This study contributes to the existing literature by using statistical modeling to clarify the important factors influencing student performance, thereby informing university teachers and higher education institutes about strategies to improve their educational quality.
