Abstract
Data governance has become increasingly important in the realm of official statistics, highlighting the necessity for efficient management and coordination among diverse stakeholders, ethical concern, and law and regulation compliance. Despite its growing significance, there are concerns that the complexity of data governance frameworks might impede innovation within the field. This paper addresses these concerns by conducting a comparative analysis of two initiatives: "One Data Indonesia" by Statistics Indonesia and "Data Space" by CBS Statistics Netherlands. Through this analysis, we aim to offer a nuanced perspective on whether data governance frameworks facilitate or hinder innovation. Our findings will enhance the ongoing discussion on optimal data governance practices, with a particular focus on their implementation in Asia and the Pacific.
