Abstract

Quality Statistics help us better understand and unpack the inherent complexities of our societies and economies. Innovative methods, new data sources and technologies are fueling transformation, redefining the role and toolkit of the traditional national statistical office, and present opportunities for increased relevance and impact, as we equip policy makers and citizens with timely, detailed and integrated data and insights. To this end, National Statistical Offices play an important data stewardship role that helps keep society functioning well, countering misinformation and disinformation from a puzzling range of sources. To continue in the spirit of the late Tim Holt, we need to gently push for what is right in, and through statistics.
