Abstract
Too often there is a lack of mutual respect between journalists and statisticians. Statisticians are concerned that journalists are more concerned with obtaining a provocative story than with its veracity. Journalists find statisticians overly cautious and somewhat pedantic. This is such a wasted opportunity since partnership between statisticians and journalists can be extraordinarily productive. Responsible members of both communities share common aims seeking to expand knowledge, to speak truth to power and to empower the public through providing access to high quality information.
