Abstract

The paper aims at providing an overview on how students of a technical faculty which educates students in the field of business and information technologies (IT) and business and management observe the calling of a statistician and data analyst. To assess the students’ perception and opinion a survey will be conducted, and the statistical analysis of the results will especially focus on exploring the differences and similarities between male and female students. Some of the antecedents we will include are previous results in quantitative subjects (such as Mathematics 1, Mathematics 2, and Probaility Theory), Perceived usefulness of statistics, as well as Interpretation anxiety. We consider conducting hypothesis testing as well as structural equation modelling multigroup analysis. The obtained results could indicate whether or not additional presentations and activities should be taken to encourage young female students to place interest in the field of statistics.
